A special operation conducted by operatives of the 
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on 3rd February, 2017 on a 
building belonging to a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian 
National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Andrew Yakubu in Kaduna 
yielded the recovery of a staggering sum of $9,772,800 (Nine Million, 
Seven Hundred and Seven Two Thousand, Eight Hundred United States 
Dollars) and another sum of £74,000 (Seventy Four Thousand Pound 
Sterling) cash.<br />
The huge cash was hidden in a fire proof safe.<br />
The
 surprise raid on the facility was a sequel to intelligence which the 
commission received about suspected proceeds of crime believed to be 
hidden in the slums of Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna.<br />
On arrival at the facility, the caretaker of the house, one <strong>Bitrus Yakubu</strong>,
 a younger brother to Andrew Yakubu, disclosed that both the house and 
the safe where the money was found belong to his brother, Andrew Yakubu.<br />
When
 the safe was opened, it was discovered that it contained the sum of 
$9,772,800 (Nine Million, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Two Thousand, Eight 
Hundred United States Dollars) and another sum of £74,000 (Seventy Four 
Thousand Pound Sterling).<br />
On February 8, 2017, Andrew Yakubu 
reported to the Commission’s Zonal office in Kano and made statement 
wherein he admitted ownership of the recovered money, claiming it was a 
gift from unnamed persons. He is currently assisting the investigation.</blockquote>

The <b>Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)</b>
 Borno Command, on Tuesday intercepted two female suicide bombers, who 
tried to ram into motorists at the NNPC Mega Station along Damboa Road, 
Maiduguri.<br />
The Commandant of the Corps, <b>Ibrahim Abdullahi</b>, said that the incident occurred at about 6.45AM.<br />

“Our
 personnel at the NNPC station intercepted two female suicide bombers, 
who were targeting motorists on the long queue at the NNPC mega petrol 
station at about 6.45AM.<br />
One of the bombers got scared and threw 
her bomb and was instantly arrested, while the other one started running
 after people with her explosive but luckily, she was shot on the leg by
 our personnel after he chased her to a safe place.<br />
We have deployed our Anti-Bomb Squad to the area,” Abdullahi said.</blockquote>
The
 commandant said that the few insurgents remaining were looking for soft
 targets where they could cause havoc and appealed to all residents in 
Borno to be on alert and vigilant.

Unconfirmed media reports suggest that top guilder of popular 
Ponzi scheme (MMM), Chuddy Mbanefo has fled Nigeria and relocated 
overseas.<br />

Reports say Chuddy absconded from the country in the midst of the 
anxiety being faced by desperate Nigerian participants waiting to 
withdraw their investments.<br />

Chuddy’s relocation is coming barely 24 hours after a fresh set of conditions for payment were released by MMM Nigeria.<br />

MMM participants, by the notification were made to believe that their outstanding payments were soon to be paid.<br />

However, investigations seem to suggest otherwise.<br />

Reports from The Cable say a certain MMM participant who manages 
several accounts said a payment of N17,000 was credited into an account 
he manages for a friend.<br />

He said:<br />

<b><span style="color: lime;"><em>“One of the accounts I manage for a friend finally got paid. She invested N20,000 on November 10, </em>2016<em> and her money has appreciated to N35,000.</em></span></b><br />

<b><span style="color: lime;"><em>“When MMM resumed last week, she said I should withdraw all the money </em>for<em> her, which I requested for immediately. </em></span></b><br />

<b><span style="color: lime;"><em>“She was paired the day after. </em></span></b><br />

<b><span style="color: lime;"><em>“The two people she was paired with had to pay N17,000 and N18,000 to make up the N35,000, but only one person has paid.”</em></span></b></blockquote>
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, MMM Nigeria released a new set of guidelines to participants.<br />

The guidelines stated that a fixed limit of N31,000 has been set for 
all participants seeking to make withdrawals from this week.<br />

According to the new rules, the “system” is prioritizing payment of 
smaller amounts and gradually increasing the amount to higher ones.<br />

It also seemed to suggest that recovery of the system is based on the optimism and “positivity” of participants.<br />

The guidelines advised participants to create further awareness that “MMM Nigeria is open, working and paying.”</div>

A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on 
Political Affairs, Femi Ojudu, said it was not true that Osinbajo was 
being held hostage by some governors who were said to have demanded his 
resignation from office.<br />

In the statement titled: “State of the Nation,” Ojudu said Osinbajo 
was on his desk in his office and performing his routine functions 
having earlier presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council 
(FEC).<br />

The presidential aide described the claim as ridiculous and urged the people to desist from carrying fake news.<br />

He said: “I have read many ridiculous stories saying the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, is being held hostage by some governors who are trying to compel him to resign.<br />

“I have equally received several calls regarding this. The story is 
simply not true. It is a fabrication. Don’t be a purveyor of fake news.<br />

“The Vice President is behind his desk carrying out his task. The 
Federal Executive Council presided over by him has just ended and he has
 been busy receiving visitors and holding meetings.”<br />
